Kingdom of Rune

Rune is the northernmost of the Seven Kingdoms, extending up into the glaciers and mountains that form the edge of Terra Incognita. Rune is scarcely inhabited by humans, though the population of Fey is quite large. It is also thought that the majority of the Elves call Rune their home, though none save the elves themselves know exactly where their cities are.

Rune does little business with the other kingdoms, aside from a modest trade agreement with Broewende. Much like Kep, Rune's ruling system (at least for its human inhabitants) is a loose federation of city-states, who are used to --some will say content to-- be largely ignored by their southern neighbors. During both wars Rune was cut off from the south, so the Kingdoms inhabitants have grown used to living in near-isolation. The humans and fey share a close bond, second only to the one that exists in Broewende, and the various races rely on each other to supply the necessities of life. Before the Golem War, the Rune Academy was the most popular and respected, but it has been abandoned since the end of the conflict, tainted by the presence of the Strangers, half-destroyed and haunted by echoes of the war.
